From Graduate of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course

Dear Angie,

It is with gratitude that I am writing this letter. Attending this MBSR course conducted by you has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The past 8 weeks have indeed been a transformative journey for me.

Week after week, you patiently coached, encouraged, prodded and pointed out the hard truths. And week after week, it made me question myself and ponder the way I have been living thus far. Slowly but surely, through my newfound awareness, I find myself unshackled from the chains of emotional reactions, perceptions, judgements and conditioning.

I am now better able to cope with stressful situations because I have learnt that the so-called stressors in life – need not necessarily be stressful. Armed with the 9 foundational attitudes and the mindfulness practices that I have learnt, I think, I too can roll with the punches which life has to offer.  Your guidance in this MBSR course has transformed my life and given me a sense of empowerment. This course has definitely achieved the objectives it set out to do – empowering oneself to create one’s own happiness and ability to respond with less stress to the challenges and stressors of life.

Your generosity in sharing your personal experiences through the articles you wrote and is still writing, in the Straits Times has helped me and I am sure it has also helped countless others.

Under your leadership, Brahm Centre conducting the 5 Day Retreat at Sentosa after the 7th session of MBSR, followed by the very enriching **Singapore Mindfulness Conference (I thoroughly enjoyed your enlightening opening address and the soothing mindful practice you conducted) after the 8th MBSR session, has provided me with the opportunity to be totally immersed in mindfulness these past 2 -3 months.  On top of that, the youtube videos which Brahm Centre has posted online and the Mindfulness@Sunset sessions have also helped me in this life-changing journey.

In completing this MBSR course, I am not the only person who has benefited. Indirectly, my family and people within my social circle have and will also experience its positive effects.

It never fails to amaze me how time and again, you can selflessly give so much of yourself to others.

Words will not suffice to say how grateful I am to you for making a difference in my life. But I felt that I needed to send you this letter because, as you said, “There are no guarantees about the future. We only have right now”.

Thank you very much, Angie!  You are an inspiration!

May you be well and happy!
