Dr Irene Tirtajana is currently the Head of Psychiatry at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). In her clinical role, Dr Tirtajana provides care to medically ill patients with psychiatric conditions, as well as general psychiatry patients. Her special interests lie in mindfulness-based interventions and the link between psychology and chronic diseases.
Dr Tirtajana obtained both her basic medical degree and master’s degree in medicine in psychiatry from the National University of Singapore, earning her specialist accreditation in 2014. She has worked at various hospitals in Singapore and managed patients from a broad range of psychiatric sub-specialties as part of her training.
Apart from her clinical role, Dr Tirtajana is a member of NTFGH’s Clinical Ethics Committee. She also serves on the Transplant Ethics Committee of the National Organ Transplant Unit.
Dr Tirtajana is a Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the National University of Singapore. Besides teaching medical students, she has given talks and presentations on a range of mental health topics to fellow doctors, allied heath professionals and the public.
